What is asynchronous communication? Simply put, asynchronous communication is when you send a message without expecting an immediate response. For example, you send an email. I open and respond to the email several hours later.
Due to our team working remotely, flexibly, and across timezones, it is crucial we adopt an approach which leans on the benefits of asynch communication.
Slack is where most of our communication happens.
We use Slack to share updates, ask questions, and collaborate - without expecting instant replies. Just keep your status and calendar up to date so others know when you're around!

It’s important to share with your slack status approximately when someone can expect a reply - for example adding when you are in focus and until when, or if you are AFK and when you’re back. And if you are on holidays, when are you back in your slack status. This will help your colleagues to adjust their schedule or understand what to expect.

Core channels are our main hubs for sharing updates, asking for help, and keeping everyone in the loop. Use them as much as possible for announcements, progress updates, questions, and feedback. The more visible things are, the better!
<aside> 🔥
Our motto: the more people know, the better - especially when you’re not sure who else might need to know.
</aside>
Use temp or private channels only when you’re clear on the goal and who needs to be involved.
If you’re ever unsure, feel free to post in a core channel or #ask-anything to say you’re starting a temp channel for a specific topic. It keeps things transparent and helps loop in anyone who might have valuable input.
<aside> ⚠️
If the questions are of the sensitive nature, ie. payroll, options, compensation, your personal progression - please reach out to your manager, Mali or Tomi, and do not post it in the shared channels.
</aside>
Temp channels are great for short-term, cross-functional work - think specific projects, incidents, or topics that only need a handful of people involved (and don’t belong in a public channel).
Guidelines:
tmp- so everyone knows it’s temporary.
